Charitable Giving Opportunity
On Friday, June 6th The Roomates will be giving back to the community by supporting local non-profit Vision Corps at their annual "Eye Drop" fundraising event in downtown Lancaster city. This event raises much-needed funding for Vision Corps' work with blind and vision-impaired members of our community by sponsoring teams to rappel down the 10-story Holiday Inn on Queen St! (yeah, sounds crazy to us too!)
Not only will The Roomates perform live at noon the day of the big event, we’re also setting up a fundraising team of our own to help sponsor a rappeller and contribute to the cause! Our goal is $1,000 for Team “The Roomates” before June 6th and we can only accomplish that with your help! Your 100% tax deductible donation will help provide:
Free preventative screenings to preschool aged children
Services to children and adults from birth to over the age of 100
Support groups for individuals with vision loss so they can share stories and guidance on overcoming obstacles
Orientation and mobility education which teaches clients how to travel safely and independently
Instruction on vision aides like magnifiers and high contrast items to support daily living tasks
Youth enrichment services which offer fun activities like cooking, kayaking and classes to help students live a full and independent life after high school
Meaningful employment opportunities for people with vision loss
